Note

This book was recommended to me by a colleague when I noted that most books on the subject of business etiquette tended to be elitist and dismissive of cultural differences.

While I found this book to be better in that regard than others I have read, it is not entirely without a bias toward a specific set of cultural imperatives, though in taking notes, I annotated fewer objections and decided to just let things pass.

On the other hand, the author's stated intent, the use of etiquette to gain an advantage over others (unabashedly stated as such in the first chapter), is a reprehensible misuse of etiquette ... though a motive that certain people have when approaching the topic ... which is another reason to proceed with caution.
