The SS Success Story

SS is the flavor of the month. The present book is a primer, meant to communicate the basic concepts to those who have heard of it but dismiss it is hype.

SS started as a quality initiative - to reduce defects - and its concepts were later applied toward business operation - reducing cycle time - as well as marketing - to improve customer satisfaction. AS it has been applied across the board, it's easily dismissed as a panacea.

SS makes big promises, as did other fads such as TQM, and there are some case studies that provide evidence that it can be used successfully.
