• The Apple web site demonstrates that cool, clean design and high-impact merchandising can be used in any industry. At a glance, it looks more like a trendy clothing retailer than a computer equipment manufacturer.
• Another site shows the total cost of products, including shipping fees, to registered customers, and has significantly reduced shopping cart abandonment.
• A travel site provides a complete "package deal" of flight, hotel, rental cars, and even show tickets, completely replacing the services of a travel agent.
• Compaq, a computer manufacturer, provides software updates and drivers for various hardware peripherals, so that users can obtain it from their site rather than having to go to various manufacturer sites.
