Preface

At the time this book was written (2001), companies were awakening to the value and power of the Web, but were sloppy in the management of their sites. Most had a first-generation presence, some were expanding, but in a haphazard way - i.e., without management direction. Goals, or measurements. The authors therefore wrote this book to help businesses better understand the Web, and better manage the evolution of their sites, and to help web developers better understand the ways of management.
